- I became interested in food preparation when I realized that we had lots of materials with which to work at home in the kitchen, but were not being used appropriately. For example, tomato pastes and sauces that could have been made into tasty spaghetti sauce or the canned mushrooms and shredded cheese in the refrigerator that could have been used to top a sandwich.
